There are varied beliefs about the existence of the footprint on the peak and holiness of this mountain peak. Christians and Muslims believe it is the spot where Adam first set foot on earth, Buddhists believe Lord Buddha set his foot on here, Hindus believe Lord Shiva visited here.
Adam’s Peak is also known as the butterfly mountain, every year large numbers of butterflies visit and perish there.This mountain looms over the surrounding hills, covered with lush green rain forest and the countries three main rivers spring out from the foothills of this mountain range.
The mystique 20 km or so trek is sure to be remembered for a lifetime. The view from the top is absolutely breathtaking, specially the sunrise.
